Ziegfest 2010 Lineup Set!
Whataburger Field Blockbuster: Nine Shows in Nine Hours October 2 CORPUS CHRISTI – Now there are nine. Nine confirmed bands, that is, destined for Whataburger Field and Ziegfest 2010 on Saturday, October 2. HOBO, The Britt Lloyd Band and Timmy Curran round out a heavy-hitting lineup card at South Texas’ premier live music event of the year. They join the headlining Charlie Daniels Band, The Toadies, Jack Ingram, Bob Schneider, The Reverend Horton Heat and Jason Boland & The Stragglers in a nine-hour extravaganza from 3 to midnight. The show is presented by Ryan-Sanders Entertainment, the Corpus Christi Hooks, L&F Distributors, ZiegenBock, the Corpus Christi Caller-Times and K-99. In other news relating to the “all things Texas” event, officials from Ryan- Sanders Baseball and L&F Distributors announced today that a portion of the proceeds from Ziegfest 2010 will benefit the Texas Surf Museum. “Surfing didn't originate in Texas but just as we have with food, fashion and music Texans adopted it, embraced it and put our unmistakably Lone Star stamp all over it,” Texas Surf Museum founder Brad Lomax said. “The Texas Surf Museum proudly chronicles this unlikely chapter in the diverse history of our state.” - Corpus Christi’s own HOBO formed in late 2007. Their music is a blend of old Honky Tonk and psychedelic sounds of the late 1960s. South Texas, beer, money troubles and fried chicken are topics in songs about life, death and everything in between from this eclectic act. - The Britt Lloyd Band (2003) has quenched a thirst for new, edgy and intriguing music in Texas and the south. BLB is at the crossroads of rock and country music. Unlabeled (2006) and The Ink (2008), featuring “That Kind” have firmly established BLB in the Texas Music scene. Lloyd, Steve Speer and Thomas Kilgore comprise the band. - Timmy Curran is a retired professional surfer and spokesman for the Surfrider Foundation. One of the top surfers on the World Championship Tour, Curran pioneered the sport’s “Aerial Revolution” of the late 1990s. He’s famous for completing a full-rotation, upside-down flip at Rocky Point, Hawaii, in 2005. Curran has two albums to his credit: Word of Mouth (2007) and VerseS (March). “Blue Eyes,” a single off his debut album, reached VH1’s Top 20 countdown. He’s toured worldwide with artists like the Foo Fighters, Incubus, Switchfoot and Angels & Airwaves. Curran also has a new surf film, “The Union Express.” His music is acoustic/alternative influenced by Jack Johnson, G Love and Ben Harper. Ziegfest tickets are for sale online and the ballpark box office. Phone purchasers may call 361-561-4665. All tickets are General Admission and $25 in advance, $30 the day-of.
